Taj Khan was a renowned dhrupad singer of the Kalpi tradition. He is said to have lived in Bareily and later moved to Nepal where he found patronage with the Ranas and where he also died. This photograph of Taj Khan is from a group photo taken at a music conference in Nepal ca. last quarter of the 19th century.
